| Sendall Mediation’s fees will vary upon the type of mediation process required and the size and complexity of the issues. The fees are the same irrespective of whether a sole mediator is instructed or whether we co-mediate.
We are always happy to negotiate fixed fees on a case by case basis or to agree a retainer to cover all work where, for instance, a mediation process is introduced to deal with all disputes arising within a particular enterprise or arising from a particular project/contract.
Employment & Workplace Mediations
As Workplace mediations will usually involve a distinct series of meetings, these can either be charged separately or a single fee can be agreed from the outset. Assuming travel time of no more than two hours is involved for any meetings, there will be no additional charge for travelling time.
As a broad guideline, there will usually be three pre-mediation meetings, one with the person commissioning the mediation and then two separate meetings with each of the parties to the dispute. The pre-mediation meetings will normally take place on the same day and can all be undertaken for a single agreed fee. These meetings are expected to last for no more than an hour each and should take no more than 4 hours in total. The usual fee for these meetings is £500 plus VAT.
The fee for a one day joint meeting with two parties will normally be £1500 plus VAT.
A follow up meeting, if required, will be charged at between £250 and £500 plus VAT, depending upon its anticipated length.
Civil & Commercial Mediations
The fees for civil/commercial mediations will vary significantly depending upon the amount of pre-reading required and the complexity of the issues to be mediated. As a guideline, for a moderately complex one day (8 hour) mediation with up to 5 hours of pre-reading, the fee will be £1500 plus VAT per party with any additional hours charged at £150 plus VAT per party. These fees may be reduced if significantly less pre-reading is required or if the issues are straightforward. Likewise, they may be increased for more complex issues where significant pre-reading is required. Community Mediations
When undertaken through the medium of a community mediation provider, such as Mediation Buckinghamshire, these mediations are usually undertaken on a pro bono basis.
If Sendall Mediation is privately instructed, fees will usually be in the range from £125 plus VAT per party for a mediation lasting up to 3 hours to £500 plus VAT per party for a mediation lasting up to 8 hours with additional hours (if required by the parties) charged at £75ph plus VAT per party.
